Hi, I'm a friend of Euan and im driving to the dolomites. Leaving morning of the 23rd of June. Driving to the Dolomites to climb planning on wild camping for free! (done this before). Staying till the end of GUMC time there then heading to the Alps for more trad fun! Arriving back in the UK on the evening of the 23 July. 3 spaces currently available. If anyone is interested let me know in this thread.

So far I have had a lot of problems with people changing their minds after making arrangements so I basically will allocate seats on a first come first served basis to anyone who knows they will definitely be taking the space. Let me know when you are sure. Cheers |

Lizzie is graduating so can't get the minibus out. As she has just come to the end of her degree and has no money, she can't afford flights which is why she pulled out initially. If you have given the space to Jonnie already (which I am presuming you have) I think the club should pay for her flight in full, if she decides that she is still going to come. I tried to be fair on allocating seats by giving them to those who were definites and those who had expressed interest from early on. At the last committee meeting it was decided how the money would best benefit the majority of people and those who were economically challenged based on who we knew were coming. Unfortunately flight prices vary with the time so it is quite possible that with the late purchase of flights someone might end up spending 1.5 or maybe 2 times on a flight due to late commitments to come or not. I realise I'm part of this problem myself since I had to back out, meaning that the spare minibus space came up only a short time ago (i.e., 27th May). So apologies for this. A suggestion for Lizzie: Come with me to Chamonix on friday 9th July. Take a bux from chamonix to Geneva airport on Sat/sun 10/11th July (33 euros 1 way http://world.chamonix.com/PDF/busgeneveete.pdf) Take a flight from Geneva to Glasgow (cursory look at skyscanner shows £80 inclusive for 1 way on Sunday 11th July). You can easily and quickly research other travel options online also. I don't know what her date, time and money restrictions are, if she wants to leave luggage in my car till I return to the UK, thats fine but she will have to wait to 23rd july to get it back obviously! |
