FRESHERS WEEK 2009!!

First of all, welcome to all the new Glasgow University Freshers from all of us in the GUMClub!

What is the GUMClub all about?

Get to see some of Scotlands most stunning locations!
Meet loads of new like-minded people!
Escape from the city occasionally!
Try something new!
We climb, walk, bike, run, drink (socialise!) and more!

The GUMClub is for everyone!!!

We have got a whole of events planned for the 2009 freshers week coming up in September. We are still confirming the dates, times etc but so far we hope to have...

Freshers Fair - Tuesday and Wednesday of Freshers Week, 10am-5pm in the Stevenson Building - we'll be there to give you a bit more info on the club and to sign you up for the freshers climbing at Ibrox (sign up early - numbers are limited and it's a popular event!). You might also see us bouldering around campus (if security are happy!)

Friday 18th September - Freshers climbing at Ibrox (Glasgow's largest indoor climbing centre), meet outside GUU at 12 (you must sign up at Freshers fair first).

Sunday 20th September - Walk up Ben A'an, a great little trip just to get to know some of the GUMClub members and the other freshers. Either email one of the committee members or find us at the Freshers fair, pub (Tuesday night in The Primary) or on the Ibrox climbing meet and we can sign you up :) We will take a minibus and usually a few cars to get people out there.

Tuesday 29rd September - Cheese and Wine Presentation, a presentation by the committee members on what the club and the people involved do as well as a friendly cheese and wine (it's not as posh as it sounds!) get together afterwards with signing up for the club and the first proper weekend meet. The night usually ends up in the pub and then a club afterwards.  Meet at the Boyd Orr for 7:30pm!! 

During Freshers 2008 we had...

A real highlight was the Freshers Meet at Glencoe / Ballachulish. We had over 75 people there, which we think is a new record for the GUM club. It was a great weekend - just ask anyone who went - and we hope to see many of those who made it on future meets.
